Ectodermal Dysplasia

Application:
- Identification of heterozygous carriers in breeding selection.
This test detects the mutation in the PKP1 gene which is responsible for Ectodermal dysplasia / Skin Fragility Syndrome in Chesapeake Bay Retrievers.
'ED' is an autosomal recessive skin disease in which affected puppies have extremely thin and fragile skin that peels off even when touched lightly.
Puppies with this condition are usually euthanised immediately after birth.
